The saga of the contract for the development and improvement of the port between the Government of Tanzania and the Government of Dubai, raised the philanthropist American citizen Marie Frances who said that Tanzanians should be independent in their internal affairs including the operation of the port without influence from people with personal interests.
The philanthropist and founder
of the Mt. Kilimanjaro Marathon has said this during her visit to Tanzania for
the race she started to contribute to the poor Tanzanian community.
Maria Frances said that it is
time to be independent when it comes to deciding internal issues in the
independent state like Tanzania.
"I love Tanzania, I'm back
after not being seen for a while due to the restrictions of the Corona
epidemic, Stay independent and now you are
independent country.," said Maria Frances
In addition, the founder of Mt.
Kilimanjaro Marathon said Tanzanians should not be happy about the arrival of
Arabs to invest in the ports, also they should not trust politicians who are
eager to seek personal interests.
“Do not allow your politicians to sell out to other people. I realize the Arabs are very rich, they can give you money but you have more than money. You have love…families and beautiful God. You are the country full of love and that’s why I come back.
She added; “In 1961 you get independent
from Britain and I made wonderful medals, I come with runners from US to
celebrate independence;" said Maria Frances.
In her arrival in the country,
Maria Frances accompanied by Dan McBennett, Erasmo Nevarez from the United
States and another philanthropist and athlete from Canada, Karen Michelsen.
Maria Frances launched a
"Peace Garden" in the Majengo area in Moshi Municipal as part of her
efforts to support the fight against Climate Change.
The launch managed by the
Mongola Conservation Group; Maria Frances and her delegation planted trees in
the area.
On his part, the Director of
Mongola Conservation Group Daniel Mvungi said that the launch is based on their
efforts to make people aware of the existence of environmental tourism.
"The intention is to
promote environmental tourism in Moshi Municipality, this is our dream that we
had since 2013.. we have also made efforts to enable people to earn
income," said Mvungi.
