Speaking recently, Lions Club Chairman of Moshi Kibo Sarah Mandara Jones said the construction of the college has been completed and they are in the process of handing it over so as to achieve the goals of helping children with special needs.
"Currently the Vocational Training Center has cost us more than TZS mil. 700 where in those funds Lions Club International has given us 95,000 US dollars and the other percent has been contributed by our Belgian partners," said Sarah Mandara Jones
In addition, the chairman said that the community should look at the needy community and be able to provide them with various aids that will be sustainable in order to build an independent community.
"The big thing that they should expect is to be able to look after the needy community and provide them with continuous aid so that they can do their own things without being dependent," she said.
However, Sarah Mandara Jones made a statement about stigmatizing the community by hiding those with special needs.
"Children who are born with disabilities must not be ashamed of, let us know that God has purposes with every creature...it is better to take them out and bring them to school, to take them to various stages where they can be taught," she emphasized.
For his part, Inderjeet Rehan the Secretary of the Lions Club Moshi Kibo said, "His goals (establishing a vocational college) are mainly to enable our children who finish primary school level to live a good life after completing college training."
"We have discovered that when children, especially girls, finish the seventh grade, others are thrown away, they get pregnant, to avoid these things, we thought we should enable them to get an education so that they can develop themselves without relying on people and not be ashamed," added Inderjeet.
